For many people, a nice warm bath at the end of the day is the perfect way to relax and recharge. I’m more of a shower person, to be honest with you, so when I decide to take a bath, I want as many benefits from it as possible. I use bath salts to add a detoxifying effect to my soak sessions.
Himalayan bath salts are a great way to purify your body, rejuvenate after a long or stressful day, and to soothe aching muscles. I love to add essential oils too, to create a powerful detox mixture that will help me relax, here’s a recipe below!
BATH SOAK DETOX RECIPE:
1/4 cup Himalayan Salt
1/4 cup Epsom Salt
1/3 cup baking soda
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
10 drops of your fav essential oil [I enjoy lavender most often!]
- In a large bowl, combine your dry ingredients – Himalayan salt, Epsom salt, and baking soda. Mix in hot or boiling water until the crystals dissolve.
- Run your bath as you usually would, with enough warm water. Add the apple cider vinegar into your salt mixture and stir well. You can add everything directly to your bath or mix it separately in a bowl or container and add it to your bath when the water is at a nice warm temperature right before you get it. Just be sure to mix the water well.
- Add your essential oils and hop in!
Try to soak in your tub for at least 40 minutes to give your body enough time to remove all of the toxins and absorb the minerals in the salts.
A step I never skip is adding my favourite essential oil, I always choose my oil based on what smell I want to enjoy during my bath.
This bath soak is great for a detox every once in a while, it should not be done for than once a week! Its great for you if you have skin conditions as a treat once a week.
TIP: drink ICED water while you soak to avoid dehydration and if you get too warm, place a cold washcloth on the back of your neck to regulate your temperature.
Remember, after a detox, your body will most likely feel tired, especially if it’s your first salt bath, so you may need to rest after, this is why I say its the perfect bath for right before bed and after a stressful day. Be sure to listen to your body and take things slowly.
Listen to some soft music, read a book, do whatever you feel like that would keep you in a relaxed state, while keeping you wake, you don’t want to fall asleep mid soak session.
